| Original Writing Sample | "Risian Holiday" *** Ainsley stepped off the shuttle and onto the landing strip. She had decided at the very last minute to opt for the shuttle down to the planet instead of just beaming down, and she was extremely glad she did. It was a beautiful sunny day on Risa, but then again were there any others where the pleasure planet was concerned. The views of the green covered mountains, the crystal blue oceans and the white sand beaches had taken her breath away. She swung her bag up onto her shoulder and headed towards her hotel, taking deep breaths of the fresh air as she went. She was definitely going to enjoy this time away from the ship. She was almost at the elaborate doorway into the hotel when she heard someone call out her name. "Ainsley!" She turned around and immediately caught sight of her older sister, Alison, making her way towards her. "Ali!" She returned the greeting. "Have you just arrived?" Alison asked as she stepped up to her. Ainsley knew that Alison had arrived the day before when the USS Hermes had pulled into orbit to allow her crew some R&R. "Yes, I just got off the shuttle now." The two sisters made their way into the hotel and Alison led Ainsley up to the third floor where their 2-bedroom suite was. Ainsley put her bag down on the bed in her room, changed into her bathing suit, grabbed a towel and immediately headed back out into the main room. Where she found Alison lazily sprawled on the couch and looking through a daily newspaper that had been delivered that morning. "What are you doing laying around, there is so much to do, come on, let's go!" Ainsley was standing a few feet away from Alison with her arms crossed over her chest and looking very impatient. "What's your hurry, we have 7 days," She responded without even looking up from what she was reading. Ainsley rolled her eyes. "I don't care how many days we have, I want to get started now. There are so many places to go diving that I couldn't even see them all if I started right now and didn't sleep or eat until I left." She looked longingly out the window to the calm, crystal blue water. "And that's just under the water. I also want to go rock climbing and skydiving before I head out next week." "Aww come on Ains.." Alison started but Ainsley wouldn't let her finish, she reached down and pulled the PADD out of her sister's hand, placed it on the table and then dragged her to her feet. "Let's go NOW!" She said insistently. "Fine, fine!" Alison shrugged. "Be that way!" But she didn't appear to be feeling too put out a few minutes later as they made their way onto a boat with a very good looking guide who promised to show them all the perfect diving spots. |
