Szerda was born in Scandinavia, on Terra, to a pair of dancers. Her parents are of the cool, reserved temperament that is predominant in the local culture, but always encouraged Annika to behave according to her own choosing.  Szerda matured into a forthright woman, who never censors the words she uses.  Being slightly over thirty years old, and still an ensign, Annikafiore joined Starfleet later than most.  Her pre-Starfleet career was as a Medical Practices consultant for the United Federation of planets; a job that left her unsatisfied, since she was given no interaction with the people she was helping.  Annikafiore is a highly sexual person, for recreation and in relationships, and even sometimes lets the flirty energy charge her bedside manner, without breaking regulations.  Annika's obvious sensuality usually causes surprise, when people discover that she is also entirely competent and serious about her work as a nurse.
