Dwayne was named that by his father. He'd heard the name and liked it when he was a young man himself. When it came time for naming their son, Carlos and Maria Sanchez agreed on the name Dwayne Romero Sanchez.

Dwayne was the Sanchez' only child. He was their only surviving child, the others having died by one means or another, from one illness or another. The loss of so many children was so hard on his mother, that she'd as much as considered him lost during his long and hard childhood. She, just as much as anyone else, was surprised when he lived to adulthood.

He entered the Academy and unlike many of his classmates, he'd taken his cadet cruise halfway through his academy training. He'd wanted that hands on before he even was assigned to a ship. He took the Operations courses while there and when time came for his cadet cruise, he was given the opportunity to participate in the ship's operations.

When he returned to the academy, he almost literally flew through the last two years of his training. He'd put in for assignment to several ships, but so far, nothing's come of it.

Dwayne is someone with a wonderful sense of humor and he doesn't take everything seriously. He loves life, but when the time comes for serious conversation, he's more than happy to take on a more serious attitude.

He's tall, 6' 4" tall, and lean. His upper arms and shoulders are well muscled, but not overly so. His black hair is well trimmed and a smile seems to constantly be in his deep brown eyes.
