| Date Awarded | Merit Award For Diplomacy: 237804.10 USS Takashima was involved in a resolution of a civil war on Cetterese III, with a Federation Ambassador. Saavar was assisting the Ambassador and averted a resumption of the conflict due to a misunderstanding between the parties involved. The peace talks resulted in a treaty and a peace accord that is still in force. The Trill Ambassador nominated Saavar for the Merit Award due to his swift assessment of the issues and his understanding of the culture, allowing a resolution in true Federation style. Meritorious Conduct Award: During Dominion War Seige on Fornice Twelve: Saavar acted as a combat medic, risking his life numerous times to save injured and dying Starfleet as well as Cardassian Officers wounded in the fighting. Saavar is an avowed pacifist, however his determination and constant personal risk to recover those injured inspired many of the defenders to persevere, outlasting the six day seige until reinforcements arrived. 2375 - Dominion War Campaign Medal |

| Background | Saavar was born to a Vulcan mother and a Romulan father. A fact that he does not attempt to hide. He grew up on Vulcan and received a purely Vulcan education and training. He was trained from a young age in s'at, the Vulcan way of emotional suppression and seemed to be normal in every way. It wasn't until later in life that he learned of his father's illness - suffering Bendii Syndrome (Romulans are just as prone to it as Vulcans for the obvious reasons). He was allowed a sabbatical to travel to Romulus to visit with his sire before he died. Saavar spent six months on Romulus and spent many hours in mental contact with Sirak. As a consequence, much of his s'at training has been set aside. Saavar has discovered that the Romulan embrace of life and the natural emotions that go with it suits his nature far more than an emotionless void of stoicism. He remains mostly Vulcan, with all the logic that entails, however he can also embrace some emotions - when he desires it. S'at allows him to deconstruct emotional complexes and reduce them to stereotypical responses so that they are easily suppressed with meditation.
Saavar is a typical Starfleet Officer - highly trained, responsible and totally absorbed in his duties. He has been recognised as having skills in diplomacy and he sees this as a natural career advancement later in life, as his father was a Romulan Ambassador (although he has no ties in the Romulan Empire). |

| Personality Profile | Saavar is a typical Vulcan in many respects. He can discuss Surak's logic, and totally disregard his emotions when it suits him. He allows some of his emotions free (those that make him sociable) and has developed a sense of humor non-typical for any Vulcan. He is a curious man, driven to discover the strange and the unknown - a desire to explore space as his Vulcan ancestors did. He is a skilled communicator and strives to 'understand' individuals and cultures in their own contexts. He is a pacifist and is a proponent of Reunification. | |||||||||
