Background

Corran Quezith was born on Achicar Prime to Gevichar Felzith and Shenahri Quemin in an environment that mimicked that of all other Achicarians, that of extreme closeness largely due to strong inherent telepathic abilities. Notably, Corran's parents were both scientists amongst Achicarians, with strong tendencies towards exploration beyond the Achicar System, something that was quite rare considering that most vessels of the Achicarian Fleet possessed primarily sublight propulsion.

The family possessed strong attachments to the Achicarian exploratory divisions, the same divisions that related to the varied alien races that could be found in neighboring star systems, and as such there was never a moment when the family would remain still. Explorers at heart, the only periods in time in which Corran's family found itself on Achicar Prime, was solely because their vessel had returned to their homeworld to leave off data and materials picked up on their voyages, providing a firm balance for Corran between planet-side activities as well as shipboard.

Unlike other Achicarians that were of scientific breeding, Corran was never put through the extensive training that would enable his use of extra-sensorial abilities outside of his telepathy; his parents saw fit to allow him a healthy and active childhood that revolved around his evolution as a warm and loving person rather than see him through extra-sensorial evolution that would have likely set him amongst the upper castes of Achicar that maintain the world's health and peace, people that have a strong tendency towards behavior that is not quite socially apt.

Corran's education was actually quite extensive throughout his life, and to this day he continues to learn as if his mind were as fresh as a human child's. His ability to grasp concepts was somewhat superior to that of his classmates wherever he found himself, and it became more and more evident as he became a biologist with a vast perception of related sciences, that he would someday become one of the most prominent scientists in Achicarian Society.

The Achicarian Government saw fit to pass Corran to his own assignments without his parents by the age of 15, largely the age at which Achicarians reach maturity and become adults although their life spans are extensive. Corran was quick to take up any assignment they threw at him, and much to his surprise, he was put on the forefront of Achicarian deep space exploration on their faster-than-light exploration cruisers with a select group of Achicarians that met with new races all the time or even races they had encountered before, always learning more and expanding the Achicarian database.

At a glance, it never appeared evident that Corran led a very happy life, but since childhood he had been curious about everything, that in exchange put him in any variety of situations that he had to adjust to. Corran quickly became a very charismatic boy into adulthood, remaining truly happy with everything that was put up to him. His ability to surround himself with friends and family at all times served him well during contact with alien races, but it also made him into something of a rowdy person when he decided not to be the calm boy that his parents had made him out into.

Regardless of his rowdiness, Corran always came out with the best; this brought him home to an orbiting station over his homeworld where he served as a physician. His talents were required at Kalingto due to the fact that any aliens that entered the Achicar System stopped primarily at Kalingto; this in turn kept Corran busy and content. But, as the human saying goes, "All good things must end."

Nearing the end of his career as a physician on Kalingto, Achicarian relations with its neighboring systems had decayed to a point where they feared for their lives. No amount of negotiations during the previous five years aided in stopping what was to come. A massive fleet of alien vessels known as the Savior Fleet had united to eradicate the Achicarians due to their telepathic and telekinetic talents, formed primarily due to xenophobia brought on by the fear that the Achicarians would at some point become an oppressive people instead of a peaceful one. The Achicarians literally knew everything there was to know of the races they contacted, and thus, had to be destroyed.

Unfortunately for the Achicarians, they had never made a habit of building warships or any form of defenses for their ships, stations, or worlds, outside of shields, therefore, upon the entry of the alien battle fleet, the Achicar System fell quickly. Achicar Prime was struck the worst and billions were lost in a polaron bombardment. Several ships, starships, and bases were destroyed while a few others had managed to amass together in an attempt to construct an intense shield that would protect the few survivors of the fierce attack. The evacuation of the planet's protectors that had trained to their fullest extents in telepathy and telekinesis were the ones responsible for saving the survivors by turning their abilities into lethal weapons. Upon the instant decimation of 87% of a 1000 capital ship battle fleet, the Achicarian executors abandoned the system to replenish their forces.

The attack was devastating on every scale possible and left Corran bereft of emotions. As an active physician he was told to treat hundreds, even thousands, of wounded Achicarians before he was allowed to rest, and when the time came to rest, came deeply inflicted wounds. His entire family had been wiped out in the polaron bombardment, the only possible surviving members would be somewhere in the distant galaxy or beyond on the generational vessels constructed by the exploration division, ships with no intentions of returning home.

Hope was lost, and Corran's desire to continue studying and practicing vanished, closely following in the steps of millions of other Achicarians that suffered the same and shared their pain telepathically. A great link of minds was forged in which the most powerful minds struggled to attain stability in the efforts to rebuild and guide their people, but it was not enough and the Achicarians eventually called their spies that were flung across different alien races in nearby systems to seek out an ally that might be willing to aid them in their efforts to restore their world to its previous pristine beauty and magnificence, and then to protect it.

For the first time in Achicarian history, the Achicarians found themselves recalling any ships they had in deep space in a widespread distress call that would only be heard by their own, but it also marked the event of which an alien government would be asked to take them under a protective wing.

Corran remained oblivious to these events throughout the recuperation efforts, but eventually returned to work as a physician to aid his own people, realizing that not doing so might add to the decay and extinction of the same. It seemed that every soul was content to simply let go and die out thanks to the vicious alien attack, but a bright light did appear not only for Corran but for all of his people.

The United Federation of Planets heard the call sent out by the Achicarians and dispatched a small fleet into deep space that reached out to the Achicarians and established diplomatic relations. A time of great instability settled in at this time and paranoia began assaulting the populace. The few parts of Achicar Prime that had been restored were covered with skeptics that did not believe any external alien government would be so soundly willing to aid them selflessly, an event that well could have ended up in a disaster with the Federation fleet that came into the system.

During the Federation's intervention, Corran was asked to represent several diplomatic aspects with the representatives of the Federation. He, with a few others, led Achicar into the first steps of a possible unification with the Federation in the future while establishing a new Federation outpost in the Achicar System. With the Federation in the system with a variety of warships that would protect the Achicarians, it was decided that integration had to include the introduction of Achicarian members into Federation society, an event that allowed Corran's worries to rest so that he could concentrate on other things and not just integration.

Corran was an obvious choice for involvement with the Federation and was quickly taken back to Federation territory to be put through a crash course training that would hopefully allow him to adjust more quickly to his surroundings than if they had simply placed him somewhere. To that extent, he was set up at the Daystrom Institute.

His short time at the Institute proved more than useful, it became his new passion - a flame that ignited his interests and brought him back to life in ways he previously thought weren't possible. He soon found himself immersed in the extensive archives of the institute, reading and researching everything he could about the Federation, not able to get enough, and then furthering his desire for exploration upon discovering that the Federation had a military primarily based on scientific exploration: Starfleet.

Although Achicarians had been drafted into the Academy by this point, Corran held strong objections to the very concept of military. His goal was that of pure science and he had no space for anything that would be accompanied by violence. The few members of his race entering Starfleet Academy came from a new warrior caste from Achicar Prime that would become the true protectors and defenders of the Achicar System, the first truly aggressive move made by his people that would only be intended as a countermeasure to further invasions.

Due to his extreme experience in scientific fields with his own people and social aptitudes with aliens from previous assignments, it wasn't difficult for Corran to negotiate a position onboard a Starfleet vessel where he could stay as a civilian and still explore the galaxy on the forefronts. With this Corran was even granted honorary membership to the Daystrom Institute.

In desperate times, Corran finally made his way through and rose above the challenges that were brought before him, only this time it was partially a rebirth. His emotions emerged once more and his true self bloomed, his integrity once again reestablished. Once more feeling like a living being instead of an outcast that was potentially mortally threatened by other aliens, Corran emerged into an unknown world amongst Federation citizens and furthermore into the very unknown that those same citizens explored fearlessly.

Things seemed pleasant for a while, but no more than two months into his activity onboard his first starship, Corran encountered variables that he'd been unable to cope with entirely. The lack of intercommunication and phobias to telepaths reached him and changed him in ways he hadn't imagined possible, and eventually, he found himself forcing himself into taking leave of Starfleet to return home.

For a time, Corran became himself again and enjoyed being amongst his own, regretting only that he wasn't with his newly joined twin brother Soren Rio, from the USS Miranda. Eventually though, he also realized just how hard his heart had been shaken by his time onboard the Miranda by a man known as Cristobel Sefton. After only two weeks, Corran returned to Earth and sought him out.

Corran has rejoined Starfleet as a civilian scientist alongside Cristobel, only this time on a smaller ship with missions much more scientifically oriented. It is his hope that he will be able to fully adapt to Federation society throughout the continued voyages of the USS Sulu.

Personality Profile

Generally a peace loving person, Corran tends to find himself performing tranquil activities both in public and in private; however, he does have a tendency to let go and will change into something of a party animal. He is quite passionate, fearless at times, but also devilishly charming and intelligent, qualities that have served him well inside and outside of his naturally calm state.

Being a scientist at heart, there is little that will shock Corran, he is the eternal skeptic and while allowing himself to marvel at the greatness of the universe and that which exists in it, he firmly stands behind scientific explanations behind all things including the existence of omnipresent and omnipotent beings or energy forms, seeking out the one creator of all things...

Physical Description

Corran is rather tall even amongst other Achicarians, although not exceedingly so. He is not considered very good looking, but has been known to charm others easily by taking advantage of his features, primarily his eyes that have been known to change between grays, blues, greens, and browns depending on his emotional state, and because of his charming personality.

His body is otherwise well kept as he believes in keeping in excellent shape. In terms of clothes he likes to keep himself in a casual style while also looking professional and socially outgoing, but will absolutely never wear a uniform if he has a say in it.

Special Notes

Corran is a telepath with the Achicarian potential to evolve in his abilities, however, he has willingly chosen to seal such an evolution for he believes that should he allow himself to drift any further into them, he might lose his touch with reality, something that he very much holds onto and prizes dearly.

His telepathy in itself holds the uniqueness of its own diverging development depending on the varied alien encounters he is involved in. This ability to develop and evolve telepathy (amongst Achicarians) enables them to "communicate" with any variety of races brought before them. It is only now that Corran has found himself amongst the people of the Federation that he speaks more orally than telepathically, recognizing that most races are afraid of telepaths due to the inherent invasion of privacy.

Physically, Achicarians are almost indistinguishable from humans, but they have several traits that can make them out if the observer watches closely. Corran's eyes, for example, will change color given what might be on his mind or what he may be doing; rarely, his hair will also change color; most notably, the palms of his hands have membranes with fluctuating color ranges that are the only external evidence of extra-sensorial abilities; his internal organs hold a slightly differentiated disposition and construct to that of humans as well, making him otherwise superior in resistance and adaptability.
