His decision had led him to join Starfleet Academy. His first years he was uncertain of whether to go onto studying Science or Medicine. Deciding to instead learn one of each, he took up a major in Medical alongside Science. This was indeed a tiring choice but Kremer worked hard and in the end he combined these skills to put them to greater use to serve as a Xenology Specialist. His travels would take him to serving onboard first the USS Saragossa and later the USS Montgomery.

Eventually Kremer progressed further and joined the crew of USS Crazy Horse where he continued to attempt further his knowledge in studying species. This time he had hoped to focus on learning more of the Delta Quadrant species such as the Kazon and the Ocampa.

His resources however being somewhat limited, Kremer instead focused on other such species like the Gorn and Kzinti, his interests becoming drawn to the earlier species first encountered by the Federation. Having found his knowledge to become more fruitful Kremer decided he wanted to return to doing what he loved best; helping others. Believing he could benefit from both aiding others and increasing knowledge of alien species, Kremer requested transfer to the USS Hikaru Sulu.

He is so well coordinated with his tail that he handles just as well as one would handle a second arm or hand. Don't be surprised if you feel a soft tap on the shoulder, it is just probably Kremer's way of saying hello or grabbing a person's attention. He will warn however that while his tail technically is his own, he often claims that the thing has a mind all of its own.
