Arthas Yior was born in the year 2351 on the newly formed Trill Colony of 'Pilot'. His father was the Finance Minister in the elected government when he was born, but was soon elected to leader of his party when the current one stepped down..

His Father was elected as President of Pilot when Arthas was 8 years old (in the year 2359). Unfortunately the year of 2359 also saw a tragedy befall the Yior family. Arthas' sister and mother both died in a radical move by a terriorist organisation to topple his father.

His father, Byron, managed to pull Arthas from the inferno, but wasn't able to save his wife and daughter. Byron, heartbroken by the news, carried on with his powerstruggle, putting all of his efforts into beating the terriorists. Unfortunately this also meant neglecting Arthas' childhood.

Arthas studied hard and acheived grades that would get him into Starfleet Academy and when he reached 16, he left without his father's consent and to this day has not seen his father again.

Arthas graduated 4 years later and was sent on a 3 month Cadet Cruise as the Captain's Yeoman on the USS Blizzard.

When this term was finished the Captain of the Blizzard requested that Arthas was sent back to the Blizzard as an Ensign.

The USS Blizzard was not a big vessel and during one of its outer rim missions, its Chief Tactical Officer died, when the ship was attacked. The Chief was a joined trill and the symbiont was also damaged during the attack. The Captain asked Arthas if he would be able to take the symbiont as his own, otherwise it would die. Arthas had never had any training for being joined and at first he was overcome by emotion and the previous hosts simply dominated him.

In time he got partial control and for his renewed strength and information background he was given the position of Deputy Chief of Secruity and Tactical.

At the end of the USS Blizzard's commision, Lt. Hex, as he was now called, put in for a new starship, and was given one in the shape of the Sulu, as Deputy Chief of Secruity and Tactical.

The Hex Symbiont has had four different hosts in the past and all three guide Arthas as their junior. Sometimes he can spurt out what they say to him.

1st Host: Ashly Hex, very Vulcanlike in control. Prime minister on Trill for ten years. Very experienced in politics. Died of Old Age at the age of 113.

2nd Host: Clavain Hex, almost the opposite of Ashly. Mercenary Pilot and very loud-mouthed. Never kept his feelings from anyone but was a very skilled pilot. Died in an accident at the age of 52.

3rd Host: Rear Admiral Gredala Hex, one of the best and most honoured Admirals in Starfleet's history. Very controlled and very aware tactically. Gredala and a few other admirals guided the UFP through the Klingon Wars. Died of old age at the age of 112. Received the Award for Properous Career in 2330.

4th Host: Lt. Craz Hex, up and coming officer who used the experience of Gredala much as Arthas does today. Unfortunately died when repairing part of the Blizzard that blew up in his face (age 35).
