Grixble Flummux was born on board the USS Victory in the year 2358. His Father, Draw Flummux, a Bolian, was a chief petty officer assigned to the ship's assay office, and his mother, Enuj Flummux, an Andorian, was in the Operations Department. Both mother and father were very proud of their son, and gave him the best ship-board education he could possibly get--grooming him from age two to enter Starfleet at the earliest possible opportunity. Grixble's parents were both from families that had spent most of their lives on ships. His Uncle Mott is the well-loved barber aboard the USS Enterprise, and he is related (distantly) to Captain Rixx of the USS Thomas Paine. Grixble also has a half brother on his father's side who tends bar aboard the USS Atlantis. On his mother's Andorian side, Grixble has several half sisters, all daughters of his mother's other husband, and a few "cousin-siblings" as well--from the other two members of the traditional Andorian four-way wedding party.

Grixble had a rather uneventful childhood. He dedicated most of his time to his studies, and soon discovered that he had a near-genius level ability in engineering and quantum mechanics. This talent was overshadowed in his adolescent years by his extreme shyness and complete lack of ability to generate any attention whatsoever from members of the opposite sex.

At Age 17, Grixble entered Starfleet Academy, and quickly rose to the top of his engineering class. Starfleet Academy was the only time in Grixble's life that he had ever set foot on a planet, and he found the experience quite alarming. His parents were workaholics and never gave Grixble any room for vacations. (Their idea of a vacation was a day or two aboard a space station, or perhaps another ship, visiting relatives.) So, Grixble was quite overwhelmed with Earth, and made a point of keeping track of every detail of its natural surroundings and its wide variety of cultures. It was there at the Academy that Grixble first got into the habit of recording an extremely detailed journal of his day to day activities, and there that he first discovered the 20th century archives, and the wonders of 20th century earth cinema.

This discovery, coupled with a class in holo-technology, reinvigorated Grixble, and soon he forgot about all of his social woes, and found himself buried in the wonders of re-creating the worlds of 20th century film. Grixble actually became popular at the academy for a while, due to his extreme skill in holodeck programming. His popularity soon waned when the randier of his classmates discovered that Grixble didn't know thing one about the more "intimate" side of human relations, and was failing miserably in his attempts at creating those programs that were in the most demand.

Grixble graduated from Starfleet Academy in spring of 2378, and, after a brief visit with his doting parents (who still serve aboard the USS Victory), arrived at his first assignment: the engineering department of the USS Galaxy.

After a brief tour of duty on the USS Galaxy, Grixble was reassigned to the USS Sulu and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant junior grade. He became fast friends with the ship's Chief Transporter officer, CPO Patrick Riley.

Grixble is an extremely shy person. He has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth in social situations, and therefore prefers to not to speak at all. Grixble is an extremely fastidious person. He probably has the tidiest cabin in all of Starfleet, except for during those rare moments when he is interrupted while attending to his prize Bonsai tree.

Grixble's appearance--the blue ridged bald face of a Bolian with two stubby white Andorian antennae--has caused him much distress over the years, and he is convinced it is one of the main reasons for his lack of experience in the relationship department. He suffers from the age-old trauma of endless unrequited crushes, and would like more than anything to have some beautiful charming young ensign fall head over heels in love with him.

All is not tragic for poor Grixble. He has several ways of surviving and sometimes even triumphing over his lonely mundane existence. He can completely immerse himself in the most brilliant esoteric equations of engineering and quantum mechanics, he can find joy in the painstaking task of maintaining his prize shrubs, or he can become--- Jack Alaska, Superspy of the Final Frontier. This is Grixble's alter-ego. A character he plays on the holodeck, and one he wishes he were in real life. This guy drinks the hippest drinks, wears the slickest clothes, has a great head of hair, and gets all the babes.

Although Grixble spent four years on earth at Starfleet Academy, there a few planet-side things he has never experienced. He has never eaten non-replicated food, and is actually quite terrified of the thought. Grixble has a number of allergies and is quite germophobic. The idea of something actually prepared by a person in a kitchen is horrifyingly unsanitary.

Fellow crewmates may often see Grixble entering secretive little notes into his PADD. Don't worry, he's not Starfleet Intelligence. He is probably either writing in his journal, working on a new holodeck program, or making another one of his multitude of top ten lists. Grixble is a collector of lists, and has created a top ten list for just about everything he's encountered in the entire Alpha Quadrant.
