Background Aidan was brought up in a well placed family of aristocrats on the Colony world of New London. Being a very early colony, the world is well established and is a premier location for arts and sciences in the Federation. The Essex family are renowned for their scholarly pursuits and Aidan was expected at a young age to excel. He studied and gained a Law degree, yet yearned for more. He was more excited by action and doing than thinking and learning, though he could do both equally well.

He spent some time on Earth as a travelling artist and wrote a novel which won critical acclaim, yet did not sell remarkably well. He studied art in a prestigious London school yet fell in love with the idea of exploration and space travel. He wanted more – and he loved adrenalin sports.

He signed up in Starfleet, firstly to see the Galaxy, but also as a means to see some excitement. He chose Security because they got the most exciting jobs, and he is a fine specimen of a male and passed all of the exams in the top seven percent.

He went on to an Advanced training course in Law Enforcement and Forensics billet, yet rather than be assigned as a Starfleet Lawyer, he chose the less burdensome job of Security Officer, where he managed to get where the action is, yet still use his brain in the analytical sciences. He is qualified as a Starfleet Lawyer and holds a Bar Recognition, as well as a Qualification for Prosecutorial Proceedings and Methods of Investigation as well as a Degree in Counselling gained through Starfleet Academy (He took two Majors rather than a secondary).

Personality Profile Aidan is a confident, eloquent and intelligent man who loves to gamble and to play sport. He enjoys fine wines and brandies, and delicacies from most worlds. He is well read, and keeps up with the latest innovations in his chosen fields. Although he is handsome, he does not particularly play the field with women, though he has had quite a few romances they have been minor love affairs that never seemed to end badly. He is charming when he chooses to be, but has a ruthless streak.
Physical Description Tall and agile, Aidan is handsome, square jawed and extremely fit. He has a strong London accent and a colonial upbringing. He has a Japanese character for Luck tattooed on his rear (a youthful bet), and a dark beard that tends to show through well before 5 o'clock, but that only makes him look rakish.
