| Background

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Vincent was inspired at a young age to join Starfleet by his uncle Lt. Terrance Chan, serving aboard the USS Valour. His parents were descendants of refugees, his ancestors originally from Japan, immigrated to Australia, Terra after the end of the Terran World War Two. After moving to Japan with his family for a couple years, Vincent became bored and returned by himself to Australia to live and complete his education in Melbourne. During this time he lived with his aunt and uncle in an inner suburban apartment. Vincent's parents were determined to have him study medicine after graduating from high school, but it was too late. By the time he was 18, thanks to his Uncle Terrance, Vincent was fascinated by Starfleet and enrolled in the Academy in 2373, against his family's wishes.
Working his way through the Academy with average marks, Vincent was enthralled by the sciences and mathematics, in particular statistics. Majoring in Physical Science and doing a minor in Biology he never was exceptionally brilliant at either of them, yet he showed a real talent for leadership and believe it or not, singing. He did not have many friends, he just wasn't a big socialite. However the friends he did have he valued greatly and was extremely loyal to the small group to which he belonged. He developed close ties with many of his friends and was deeply grieved when they were separated. Though not a big socialite, Vincent wasn't exactly shy either, and when it came to the opposite sex he did not hold back. Even though most of the time he was successful, he was humiliated on several occasions. Of course he was unfazed by these as he had his priorities straight; his education, his body, his mind, his friends, and then everything else. He had clear visions of his future and his dreams, and set his priorities accordingly.
He then chose to spend a one-year internship at the Batelle Science Institute, rather then being assigned to a ship. Completing his internship in the statistic department of Batelle in 2378, Vincent then set his sights to space and worked hard to be assigned onboard a starship. He eventually wishes to become a science officer like his mentor, his uncle Terrance.

| Physical Description
|
Tall, well-built, yet surprisingly agile, Vincent can't resist a chance to keep fit. He loves his sports and likes to be able to be fit enough to play them. His hair is cut short with red highlights. He has a rower's figure and loves using it to tackle situations where strength is needed. This does not mean, however, he can't use his brain. |
