For a place dubbed Commerce City, there certainly isn't alot of money being made around here these days. As a business woman myself, I've seen firsthand the effects the Imp presence has had on the Tae'Karadan economy. Their embargo stalled all trade to and from the planet, which just about dried up the planet's funds. For a planet with no real natural resources, trade is what keeps this place alive. It's businesses like my own that smuggle in the commodities this planet needs to keep our interplanetary trade going. That blockade almost ended all of that for us. Eventually, though, I guess the Imps saw the light. They probably realized there was no point in holding a planet hostage if it wasn't going to provide any profit for their beloved Empire. When the blockade was lifted, this posed as good news for all the businessmen of Tae'Karada. Finally, trade could begin again and perhaps the struggling economy could thrive once more.

But before our hopes could come to fruition, the Empire dealt another fatal blow. They asserted their presence and made their true intentions clear when they left the comfort of their starfighters and set foot upon the planet. They supplanted the High Prince and his High Princess, killing them along with any of their surviving bloodline. The palace became the headquarters for the Imperial attachées to the planet, while Tarkin, the coward, rules from high above under the protection of his star destroyer. They say he comes down to the palace to over see things, but he's an Imp; I just don't see it happening.

Now the Imps are concentrated throughout the planet, cracking down on all illegal activities and businesses, but they aren't going easy on the legitimate businesses either. Although the blockade has been lifted, they have still placed a sanction on all traffic to and from Tae'Karada. They've given themselves the authority to search the cargo of any ship, anytime, and only allow passage to those ships that have proper Imperial codes. Basically, trade can resume, but only if ships can manage to slip through the cracks in the Imperial patrols. Exchange of illegal goods is the Tae'Karadan livelihood, my livelihood, and with the Imps in power, they've all but damned us to poverty and destitution. Businesses everywhere are failing because they can't provide the goods to meet the demands, and with the job market plummetting, consumers aren't even making enough money to buy the goods we do manage to bring in. It's just one vicious cycle that will end only if we rid our planet of those Imps. They don't realize, though, that they're only making their rule harder for themselves. In the pursuit of creds, people will perform the most extreme measures. I'd really like to see how those Imps handle things when the planet self destructs and criminals begin running rampant. The planet will soon become a reservoir of murderers and thieves, and I'm not just talking about the Imps. Eventually, their interest in Tae'Karada will wane and they'll leave; unfortunately for us, we'll be left behind to pick up the pieces of our crumbling planet and salvage what little the Empire has left for us in their wake.
