Physical Description
Despite the rumours running around Thanatos, Kael Selrid isn't really a large, imposing figure. His hair has been bleached to a near-white and he seems to have a perpetual scowl on his face. He stands at only 5' 11", a rarity among gang leaders. His build is fairly wiry. Yet, despite his smaller stature, he has a presence that makes him seem much larger than he is.

Professional History:
Kael is, more or less, a professional criminal. He has been involved with gangs for most of his life. Only two years ago, he took over the leadership of the Feltreys, one of the more well-known and brutal gangs in all of Thanatos.

Background
Kael Selrid was born free in the desert city of Thanatos on Tae'Karada. His parents owned a small restaurant at the edge of town and made a decent living serving native cuisine. One day, shortly after Kael's fifth year, his parents journeyed to New Plouton to buy some produce that was no longer available in Thanatos. Kael was left with a friend. They were stopped at the border, and their hovercar searched for contraband. The guards, suspicious men who felt that the people of Thanatos should be barred completely from the cities, were rough on the couple. When one of the guards hit Anea with the butt of his blaster rifle, Quaran charged him intent on killing the man. Before he'd taken two steps, the other guard shot him down. A week later, word reached Thanatos that Kael's parents had been killed.

At first, Kael was devastated. He didn't speak for nearly three months, and finally ran away from his guardian, the friend his parents had left him with. He lived on the streets for another few more months before he was put into a homeless care facility. He stayed there for six months before he ran off again and joined his first gang: the Feltreys.

One night, Kael was sneaking into a building to escape the cold. He broke the window and slipped inside. Little did he know that it was the property of one of Thanatos' fiercest gangs. At first, the gang was just going to kill him and toss his body in the desert, but in the end they decided he'd be good to keep around to do the things they hated doing around their home. So, Kael stayed with the ganger women and helped with the various chores.

Several years later, he'd grown big enough to start going with them. In one year, he managed to take part in his first gang fight, kill a man, steal something other than sweets, and rob a man of his dignity and wealth. The violence of the Feltreys was legendary and soon Kael had established himself as part of that legend.

If there was anything violent or destructive in Thanatos, the Feltreys had a hand in it. Once a week, they went out on what they called Rape Raids. They would pour through the streets looking for women, and then they would take them then and there. After two such raids, Kael realized that he wanted no part of that any more. He lived with the month of ridicule from the rest of the gang, but weathered it well.

On the day of his eighteenth year, Kael offered the challenge of leadership for the gang. He found the pointless violence of the group distasteful and wanted to give it all a focus. As he matured, he found himself drawn to the history of Thanatos and his people, the Kir'Thana. He would lead the Feltreys toward saving Thanatos from the wetters and his people to freedom.

The fight was brutal and bloody, and in the end Kael stood victorious. From that point forward, their violence focused on purging the wetter influence from Thanatos.

During all of this, Kael found himself experiencing odd surges of strength and speed, in addition to a recurring dream: a pair of brown eyes dominating his vision.

When he finally met the source of his dream, a young woman who worked at The Rhack, it didn't take long for Kael to fall in love. With Nieme's urging, Kael decided to follow her to New Plouton, to explore the hidden talents inside of him. He was Force Sensitive, and according to Liam Zaneth he had the potential to become a Jedi Knight. If it weren't for Nieme, Kael wouldn't have gone, but, in order to purge the violence within himself he agreed...mainly to keep Nieme close to him, and to not frighten her away.

On Praeda 24, 298AK, Kael and Nieme secretly married during a trip they'd taken into New Plouton. It was a small service, and very beautiful. Both exchanged the customary wedding bracelet and were bound to each other.

Things started out very well for Nieme and Kael, at least until Dani entered their lives. Kael couldn't get over the thought of anyone else getting close with Nieme, and after finding Nieme and Dani sleeping in the same bed together (nevermind that they were just sleeping and not doing anything) his jealousy flared. It didn't take much more after that to push Nieme away completely until she fled the Temple and Kael.

At first Kael had difficulty adjusting to the loss of Nieme, but after a very messy one day affair with Yelara Zaneth and a long talk with her about what was happening, Kael decided to dedicate himself completely to becoming a Jedi Knight.

While still completely dedicated to the Jedi Order, Kael's life took an unexpected but welcome change. During a brief trip back to the desert, he spent time with Raeila, and rediscovered his love for her. Her cruelty and anger seemed lessened when he was near, and they pledged themselves to one another again.

Shortly after his return, Raeila followed him back to New Plouton. He nearly lost her as she sought to end her life rather than live without him. The Force was with him, and he managed to save her from a fall from the roof of one of the New Plouton buildings. Soon after they were married, and have been, despite many continued intrusions on their happiness, happy ever since.

Personality:
Most of Kael's life has been filled with anger and malice, having been spent with gangs in the midst of all their violence and hate. He hasn't escaped unhurt from this influence and still bears the scars of his hatred and foul deeds. Lately his dreams have taken an edge off the anger, but when faced with other violence his own still flares out of control.

When he's not angry, he's not bad to be around. Though, finding him in a lighter mood is a rare thing indeed.

Vehicle of Choice:
When he needs to leave the Temple, Kael will either walk or find a ride with someone who handles a speeder better than he. As Nieme can attest, he's really not that good of a speeder pilot.

Form of Dress:
Now that he is a Jedi Padawan, Kael wears the traditional attire of the Jedi.

Superhuman Powers and Abilities
So far, Kael has shown signs of superhuman speed and strength due to his power in the Force. He has begun training with Liam Zaneth and Laedra Vorrel, Jedi Masters at the Temple.

Abilities and Skills:
Kael is good in a fistfight, and fairly accomplished using knives as well.
