Chamlembac was born on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, he was secreted away before the planet was enslaved by the Empire. Travelling from fringe world to fringe world, he learned a good deal about people and the galaxy around him. Over the years spent in spaceports and smuggling havens, Cham became quite a talented technician. He managed to avoid the Galactic Civil War, and eventually found himself living in the neutral world of Tae'Karada. His skills quickly earned him a place in the tech crews of the Drogen Shipyards.

Life was pretty good for Cham, until he happened into a bar one night. Unlike other nights, this one came with a raving madman who planned to kill everyone inside. The Wookiee didn't hesitate to try stopping the gunman, but was quickly rendered unconscious and badly wounded. As he lay dying, the station security chief, Rilanna Kir, came to the rescue and allowed the medics in the infirmary to save his life. After that incident, Cham vowed to stand at Rilanna's side. They became quick friends.
