Ares Technology Arsenal

**Note: The following can only be purchased through Ares Technology, which means any player wishing to acquire any Ares battle armour must contact Rylaa Lyssander to gain access. DO NOT include these weapons in your post otherwise.

Key: PAX (Power Armor - Experimental), LAX (Light Armor - Experimental)

Ares PAX-25 Firefox Assault Armor (Monkey Suit): This armor stands about half again as tall as a man, so about 8 feet, and appears to be quite bulky. The suit is fully enclosed and has its own environment control system and oxygen recycling source. It can survive underwater up to a depth of 200 fathoms (1200 feet). The armor of the suit is very thick and able to withstand several missile hits before shutting down. It has an experimental shielding system that is very powerful, but can fluctuate wildly if it absorbs too much energy. A metal knob about the size of a fist is on each shoulder pad (think space marine armor from Warhammer 40k) which both projects the shield and bleeds off the energy absorbed by it. Energy absorbed by the shield is dissipated as a blue lightning between the knobs, unarmored people standing nearby will get energized and their hair will stand on end.

Attached to the back of the armor is a missile pack which is detachable and holds 12 laser-guided missiles. The PAX-25 is also equipped with jump-jets which use the plasma bleed-off from the suit's fusion engine to propel the operator up to 100 yards or straight up 60 feet. The right arm of the suit ends in a heavy repeating blaster with an extremely high rate of fire and a pretty decent accuracy. The left arm is a three-fingered claw that can be used for climbing as well as combat. The blaster feeds straight from the fusion engine giving it virtually unlimited ammunition. However, the blaster is prone to overheating and should not be used for extended periods of time. The suit works using a very highly experimental material called 'molymer' which is like artificial muscle. The molymer not only allows for movement of the suit, but increases the user's strength by several times. Inside the helmet of the armor is a sophisticated holographic HUD (Heads Up Display) which gives the operator real-time updates to the battlefield using a two-way laser link and displays all armor specifics; such as damage. The HUD works using a "look/point" system which has the operator manipulating the display with jaw, head, and tongue movements.

Ares PAX-26 Firefox Command Armor: The PAX-26 is exactly like the PAX-25 in all aspects except three. The missile pack on the back of the PAX-25 has been replaced by a very sophisticated communications and sensor system. This pack is much lighter than on its assault model brethren so the PAX-26 does not have the hunched-over look that gave the PAX-25 it's nickname. The new pack also contains an advanced computer suite which is used with the experimental missile defense system. Which leads into the next difference. With the new computer system, the PAX-26 uses the energy dissipating from its shields to fire an electron stream at incoming missiles that it has detected. This will fry out the guidance system and cause most missiles to self-destruct. Dumb-fire missiles are not affected electronically but due to the volatile chemicals involved in the crud weapons, they may explode anyway. The third difference is the addition of a plasma flamer to the left hand. This flamer fires a jet of plasma exhaust from the suit's fusion engine. Use it too many times, however, and you risk shutting the suit down for self-repair of the engine.

Ares LAX-32 Light Personal Defense System (LPDS): Think "Starship Troopers". This armor is made of a lightweight Plasteel polymer and coated with a special ceramiplas mixture. The coating process is very expensive and lengthy, but the result is amazing. You get an extremely durable, lightweight armor that has all the stopping power of standard assault armor.

The LAX-32 does not cover the entire body. It consists of vest,, pants, gloves, boots, and a sophisticated helmet. The helmet has it's own tiny power supply good for up to four weeks in the field without recharging. A pair of glasses slide down from the helmet to cover to operator's eyes and displays time, location, and targeting information. The helmet also has a short-range communication system which integral sub-vocal microphone. The armor comes with all necessary straps and pouches to keep a trooper going in the field for several weeks. The LAX-32 was designed to operate with the Ares HB-54B Blaster Rifle via the advanced interface provided by the gloves. Each operator is assigned his own personal weapon which is then coded to his armor. This ensures that should the operator fall in battle, no one else can use his weapon.

Ares HB-54B Tomahawk Blaster Rifle: The HB-54A is Ares' standard mass produced blaster rifle. While slower firing than many of its counterparts in the galaxy, the HB-54A is much more accurate due to its special lens and firing chamber. The HB-54B is a variant of the alpha and is used as part of the LPDS. The HB-54B is also modular in design, allowing for either a taclight, a grenade launcher, or a combat shotgun to be attached underneath the barrel.
